Black Stretch Wrap – Concealment & Secure Palletising | Pack Exact

Black Stretch Wrap

Opaque black stretch wrap combines pallet stability with product concealment. It helps deter pilferage, protects from UV light and keeps shipments discrete. Use for retail goods, high-value items and branded cartons you’d prefer to keep out of sight.

Also see: clear hand stretch wrap for fast visual checks. Build a safer pallet with edge protection, strap with packing tape, and choose robust pallet boxes for bulk consignments.

Why choose black film?

Concealment & security: the opaque finish obscures contents and branding to reduce opportunistic theft.

UV dampening: helps shield from light exposure during yard storage or longer routes.

Professional finish: neat, uniform pallets for retail and DC presentation.

Common applications

Consumer electronics, apparel and footwear, cosmetics, seasonal launches, eCommerce returns cages, and mixed-brand pallets. For fragile builds, add bubble or paper pads between layers.

Formats & options

Hand rolls (cast)

Quiet unwind with good cling. Typical widths 400–500 mm; lengths 200–300 m; microns 12–23 μm. Ideal for everyday wrapping.

Hand rolls (blown)

Higher puncture resistance and memory; slightly noisier. Choose for irregular loads and sharp edges.

Extended core

Built-in handles for quick application—no dispenser needed. Great for mobile wrapping around the warehouse.

Compare stretch wrap choices

Type Best for Pros Consider
Black (cast) General DC use; concealment Quiet unwind, good clarity for operators, strong cling, neat finish Lower puncture resistance than blown on very sharp loads
Black (blown) Irregular/sharp pallets; outdoor storage Higher tear & puncture resistance, better memory and load retention Noisier unwind; slightly less “glossy” finish
Clear hand stretch Visual checks; scanning barcodes on outers See-through for inspections, easy to identify loads No concealment; less deterrence to pilferage
Extended core (black) On-the-go wrapping No dispenser needed, quick to deploy Less ergonomic for very high volumes than pistol-grip dispensers

How to get a reliable wrap

Start with a stable base and square layers. Apply 3–5 pre-stretch passes around the pallet base, then spiral upward with 50% overlap. Add edge protection on corners to prevent film cuts. Finish with 2–3 passes at the top, capturing the pallet if appropriate. For mixed or fragile items, interleave cardboard sheets between layers to distribute load.

Light loads: 12–15 μm; mixed/standard pallets: 17–20 μm; heavy or irregular pallets: 20–23 μm+. Blown grades suit sharper edges.

Yes, most PE stretch films are recyclable where facilities exist. Keep film free from contamination. For paper-first alternatives for void fill, see protective paper.

Black film is opaque, concealing products and dampening light exposure—useful for outdoor staging and high-value goods.

Cast is quieter with great cling and aesthetics; blown offers higher puncture resistance and better “memory” for difficult loads. See the comparison table above.

Extended core is quick and mobile; pistol-grip dispensers reduce fatigue for high volumes. For the dispenser itself, see handheld tape dispensers.

Corner edge protection, interlayer cardboard sheets, and strong packing tape. For bulk shipments, upgrade to pallet boxes.
